KGM Musso Rhino launch film

The UK launch film for the new KGM Musso Rhino needed interior footage, and time was tight. There was just one small snag. The only Musso Rhino in the country was unavailable for filming.

So we created the interior shots without it. We started from a handful of iPhone images, some brochure stills and the exterior footage that had already been shot. From those we built interior cutaways that sit inside the finished film without anyone spotting the join. The film went straight to air.

challenge

The exterior footage for the Musso Rhino launch film was already shot. To finish the story, the edit needed interior cutaways that showed off the cabin, and the deadline wasn’t moving.

Without a truck to film, there was no way of getting those shots the usual way. And leaving the cabin out wasn’t an option either. It’s a big part of the Musso Rhino story, and without it the launch film would have had a gap right in the middle.

With time against us, there was no waiting around for another vehicle. From the client’s side, it looked like a problem with no solution.

our approach

We started with what we had: a handful of iPhone images of the interior, some brochure stills, and the exterior footage.

Whatever we produced had to sit inside that same truck, in that same light, without anyone spotting the join. So we brought together three things:

  • AI to direct the lighting and location, so every interior shot matched the warm, dusty light of the exterior footage
  • Precise AI vehicle renders, built from the reference images so the cabin stayed true to the real Rhino
  • Retouching by hand, with our team refining every frame until it matched the original footage exactly

What came out was a set of interior segments that cut straight into the film. Same truck, same light, same location. Just no truck.

The tools have changed, but the job hasn’t. AI can get you a long way, but it can’t tell you when something looks wrong. You still need to know how light falls inside a cab and how leather catches the sun. We refined every frame by hand until the interior sat perfectly alongside the exterior footage. The best compliment is that nobody noticed.

results

The finished film went straight to air. The interior cutaways sit alongside the original exterior footage with no visible seam.

KGM got its launch film without a reshoot, and without compromising the story it needed to tell. The client felt this problem had no solution, and we solved it.

At Visarc, that’s just a normal day. Can we help you make the impossible, possible?
